IRCC Virtual Learning Series for Employers

Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada will be offering a virtual
learning series for employers. These virtual information sessions are free
and are held by an IRCC outreach officer.

The goal of this 8-week series is to help employers learn more about
Canada’s economic immigration programs. Each week will feature a new
topic and provide employers with an opportunity to ask questions.

Employers may choose to attend one or all of the sessions based on their
interest and needs.

  • Resources for employers
    February 22, 2023 12pm EST
    Learn about the wide variety of resources for employers and how they
    can support you in hiring and retaining foreign talent. This session will
    discuss the role of outreach officers, settlement agencies, the
    International Mobility Workers Unit, the client contact centre and
    more.
  • Recruiting of global talent
    March 1, 2023 12pm EST
    Recruitment for global talent can seem overwhelming; however, this
    session will provide clarity on how you can begin your search. Topics to
    be discussed include IRCCs recruitment services such as Destination
    Canada Mobility Forum and Job Bank.
  • Work permits – Temporary Foreign Worker Program
    March 8, 2023 12pm EST
    In this session, we will discuss how employers can hire global talent
    through the Temporary Foreign Worker Program. This session will walk
    you through the process involved in these applications including labour
    market impact assessments and employer obligations.
  • Work permits – International Mobility Program
    March 15, 2023 12pm EST
    In this session, we will discuss how employers can hire global talent through the International Mobility
    Program. This session will cover topics including labour market impact assessment exemptions, the
    International Mobility Workers Unit, the Employer Portal and employer obligations.
  • Global Skills Strategy (GSS)
    March 22, 2023 12pm EST
    The Global Skills Strategy was launched in 2017 with the intent to ensure that Immigration supported
    businesses attracting top talent. This session will cover the four pillars of this strategy including faster
    application processing times, work permit exemptions and Dedicated Service Channel.
  • Francophone immigration
    March 29, 2023 12pm EST
    Learn about the benefits of hiring French-speaking and bilingual candidates. This session will provide
    information on Francophone Mobility and opportunities for additional points through Express Entry.
  • Permanent residence pathways
    April 5, 2023 12pm EST
    Learn how to support your temporary foreign workers in their application for permanent residence. In this
    session, you will learn about Express Entry, the Atlantic Immigration Program and the Rural and Northern
    Immigration Pilot Program.
  • Economic immigration in Quebec – joint presentation with IRCC and MIFI for Quebec employers
    (available in French only)
    April 13, 2023 12pm EST
    Learn about the benefits of hiring foreign workers in Quebec. This session will be presented jointly by IRCC
    and the Ministère de l’Immigration, de la Francisation et de l’Intégration (MIFI). It will provide information
    on Quebec’s own economic immigration programs and on the services offered to the employers in Quebec
    that are looking to hire abroad.
