As CEO of SmartICE, Carolann is leading a diverse coast to coast to coast award-winning team, focusing on meeting SmartICE’s social enterprise mandate, strategic directions and social impacts. Working collaboratively with indigenous communities, SmartICE co-designs projects that focus on climate change monitoring and adaptation, workforce development and Indigenous and local knowledge. In May 2023, Canadian Geographic named SmartICE #1 on the list of 20 Canadian Innovations you should know about.
Carolann is currently the Chair of FoodFirst NL, director on the Pinnguaq Board, incoming Chair of the ICD NL Chapter Executive, and a Member of the MUN Faculty of Business Advisory Board. Carolann is a graduate from both Memorial and Dalhousie Universities. In 2021, Atlantic Business Magazine named Carolann as one of Atlantic Canada’s 25 most Powerful Women in Business and was 1 of 3 national finalists in the RBC Women of Influence – Social Change Award – National Impact. In May 2024, Carolann was named one of the Top 50 CEOs in Atlantic Canada.
