IMP Electronic Systems of Hammonds Plains has received a 2013 gold performance excellence award from Boeing Co.

The Hammonds Plains company is one of only 124 firms to achieve gold status from Boeing, which has some 23,000 global suppliers. The award is presented annually to recognize suppliers who have achieved top quality and delivery performance.

“We are extremely proud of this tremendous accomplishment,” Dave Meagher, vice-president and general manager of IMP Electronic Systems, said in a news release Tuesday.

“Our objective is to maintain our solid performance with Boeing while continuing to grow our business with them.”

The local company, an operating unit of IMP Aerospace & Defence, has supplied wire harness assemblies to Boeing Defense, Space & Security since 1984. The harnesses are fitted to various military aircraft, including the F/A-18 Hornet and the CH-47 Chinook, flown by a number of international forces.

IMP Electronic Systems employs more than 110 people in Hammonds Plains.
