Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging (DEIB) with DiversityNL

Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging (DEIB) starts with putting people first and looking at ways we engage, connect, and support individuals. This course entitled “Fundamentals of Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging” will provoke discussions, shift language and encourage a growth mindset. It is pivotal for each of us, and to every SME, to look at our people culture and how we do business. Creating respectful and inclusive workplace cultures starts with being able to define DEIB and how to implement a DEIB toolbox into the workplace. We will explore inclusive language, pronouns, DEIB training, employee engagement and policy development. Overall, this course centres around the building blocks every SME needs for success.

In this 1.5-hour virtual session, Stephanie Howlett (she/her/hers) will present this course through an inclusion lens which will provide SME leaders the knowledge, awareness, and skills to be able to implement tools, strategies, language, and training into their workplace cultures. Creating the ability to shift perspectives and engaging with employees so they can bring their full authentic selves to work creates lower turnover rates, higher customer satisfaction, greater productivity, and higher profitability.

The goal of this course is to create awareness and understanding in SMEs about the fundamental concepts of DEIB in A&D workplaces. We will be using a DEIB framework to look at where we are using A&D data and where we need to go to become inclusive leaders.
