NBCC IT: Programmer Analyst — Call for Practicum Hosts

NBCC is looking for practicum hosts for their IT: Programmer Analyst spring internships. As a practicum host, you are providing a practical experience for these students to put into practice the skills and knowledge learned at school. This experience allows them to gradually enter the workforce and acquire new knowledge related to real working situations.

The practicum is held during spring term from April 29, 2024, to June 14, 2024 and is intended to provide the students with an opportunity to showcase their skills in any of the areas below:

  • Visual C#, .NET, Java EE (JSPs, EJBs, servlets and faces), SE™ and Entity Framework
  • Computer Hardware
  • Web Page Design using HTML, JavaScript, PHP, jQuery, AJAX and Bootstrap
  • Operating Systems including Windows, Linux, Unix and Android
  • Quality Assurance Testing, Selenium
  • Networking Basics
  • Object-Oriented Analysis and Design with UML
  • Mobile Applications using Cordova, Angular and React Native
  • Basic Project Management Fundamentals
  • Mechatronics Fundamentals
  • Data Retrieval and Visualization
  • Applied and Technical Writing
  • Database Design and Implementation using: MSSQL 2, Oracle, MYSQL and Crystal Reports
  • Business Related: Microsoft Office™, Business Fundamentals, Entrepreneurship: Ideation & Strategies (tech startup project)

It is important to note that payment is up to the practicum host (not mandatory), and students will be covered by WorkSafeNB for the duration of their placements. The dates of practicum can also be extended – students can begin early throughout winter term or work into the summer.
