Marine Essentials Curriculum Development Project

Published: August 1, 2023

Nova Scotia Community College is developing and delivering nine unique credit courses for the marine, aerospace and defence sector.  The target market for these courses are second year college students in specific programs and new employees in the sector.  While most courses are specific to the marine defence sector, some have broader audiences that expand into other defence related fields. The courses address critical gaps in existing graduate profiles for jobs in these sectors.  All nine courses will be developed for both in-person as well as asynchronous online deliveries. Upon project completion (the delivery of two iterations of each course), NSCC plans to launch the courses on a national scale, with hopes of collaborating with other colleges in marine, aerospace and defence jurisdictions During the pilot phase, some courses may be available for free to ACADA members for a limited time only.

The courses are:

  1. Marine Essentials for Shipbuilding Trades
  2. Marine Essentials for Shipbuilding Technologies
  3. Introduction to Accuracy Control
  4. Introduction to Integrated Logistical Support
  5. Production Planning & Scheduling for Marine Manufacturing
  6. Supply Chain Management for Marine Manufacturing
  7. Configuration and Information Management
  8. Introduction to Project Controls
  9. Introduction to Shipbuilding
