CoLab Software Selected as One of Canada’s Top Employers for Young People

ST. JOHN’S, NL – For the second consecutive year, CoLab Software has been selected as one of Canada’s Top Employers for Young People for 2022. The winners of the 20th annual editorial competition organized by the Canada’s Top 100 Employers project were announced today in print and online. Employers on this list are recognized as leaders in attracting and retaining young people, offering the best workplaces and programs in Canada for those who are just starting out in their careers.

During the selection process, evaluators look at the benefits and programs each employer offers—including things like tuition assistance, co-op or work-study programs, mentorship and training programs, professional development incentives, and career management programs. The organizational profile of each employer is also taken into consideration, with the average age of employees giving insight into the composition of the workforce. In a press release, Mediacorp Senior Editor Kristina Leung notes, “The pandemic has caused many people to think more about their whole selves and, for young people starting their careers, work is a key part of that.” Leung says young people want to work for organizations that reflect their values, where they can be passionate about their job. “The best employers are improving their organizational and workplace policies to reflect these emerging concerns. »

Founded in 2017, some of CoLab’s earliest interns are still employed full-time today. In a recent post on LinkedIn, CEO Adam Keating mentions that CoLab has hired 17 developer interns to date and that 13 have stayed on with the company. “The quality of the interns we’ve hired has been a huge enabler for us to scale our team from St. John’s,” says Keating. “These incredible developers are building core parts of our solution, leading teams, and building the infrastructure we need to deliver CoLab globally.”
