Published: juin 19, 2023

The Government of Prince Edward Island and the Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency (ACOA), on behalf of the Government of Canada, are investing in MDS Coating Technologies’ (MCT) facility expansion which will also create well-paying jobs for highly skilled workers in the province.

MCT is the winner of multiple awards in innovation and clean technology, which has helped their global aerospace clients reduce fuel consumption and improve their carbon footprint. The company is receiving $10.4 million in joint financial support to build a 15,000 square foot addition to its Slemon Park location where up to 20 new workers are expected to join their team.

The Government of Canada, through ACOA, is contributing $2.9 million to assist MCT with the purchase of state-of-the-art equipment for 3D metal printing, cleaning, and coating to increase production for growing commercial demand.

The provincial investment of $7.5 million, which includes a non-repayable grant of $500,000 from Innovation PEI, will also go towards the purchase of specialized aerospace equipment to allow MCT to meet growing demand for their advanced coating technology solutions.

Provincial and federal governments will continue to partner with industry leaders like MCT to help grow the Island economy through job creation, innovation, and increased export growth opportunities.
